Peter Goi

GOI’s bald head is rather striking. He is a marvelous person. We know each other from the academy. Many of us students tried to sculpt his portrait. I didn’t – and changed this now.

When forms are so smooth, I cannot arrive at a final rendering of them in clay. My fingers aren’t precise enough, and my wooden modeling tool makes incisions and facets, but no perfectly smooth surfaces.

For this reason I then work in plaster or wax. Weather permitting, we would find a perfect spot to set up outdoors.
